    News | 16.02.2015
    ice sculpture festival in Karelia

This week the capital of Karelia, Petrozavodsk, hosts the annual international festival of snow and ice sculptures «Hiperborea». This is most waited winter event in Karelia, which citizens and guests of Petrozavodsk enjoy so much. The festival includes book and art exhibitions, concerts, competitions and other events devoted to living in the North.

The apex of the celebration program will be the  competition of snow and ice sculptures. Sculptors from northern towns of Russia, and guests from foreign countries will present their works and compete in each of three nominations (ice sculpture, snow sculpture – large cube and snow sculpture – small cube). Guests of the festival will see these sculptures of ice and snow on February 19 when the competition starts. The best sculptures will be named by the jury on the last day of the competition on February 21 during the closing ceremony of the international competition of snow and ice sculptures.

We invite all local residents and guests of Karelia to this performance on February, 21 on the Onego lake Embankment (at the intersection with Lenin Prospect).
