This year the Kizhi Museum is celebrating the 300-year anniversary of the church of Transfiguration. The festival lasted from the 15th till the 19th of August, and one of its highlights was the traditional wedding ceremony.
The bride and the bridegroom were chosen in the contest, which the museum launched in one of the social networks. Arseniy and Anna got married last year in Moscow. They decided to take part in the competition, because every summer they spend in the village, situated not far from Kizhi Island. They were very happy to hear, that they would celebrate their first wedding anniversary on Kizhi Island.
The wedding ceremony took place on the 18th of August and guests of Kizhi Island were lucky to plunge into the atmosphere of this beautiful event. In the past weddings followed traditions and beliefs, which the family passed from generation to generation. Every ritual and every word had its deep meaning.
