Program:

09:00 Meeting with the guide and jeep instructors at the railway station in Petrozavodsk. Each jeep will take 2 persons. Today we cover the distance of 140 km. Transfer from Petrozavodsk to Kosalma Village. We make our first stop near Sampo Mountain. This is a hill from which you get a splendid panorama of Karelian taiga.

Our next stop is in the first Russian spa, founded by Peter the Great in the 18th century. Till today its waters rich with iron heal from various diseases. You will taste this water from each spring.

After a short briefing you will try yourself in the off-road ride. In the past there was an ancient volcano in this area. Till today you can see traces of lava on the rocks. Girvas is a popular area in Karelia for off-road jeep competition. We will try several landscapes, go up and down sand dunes, cross the Suna River, and go over rocks.

14:00 Picnic on the way and then transfer to the Kivach Nature Reserve. Upon arrival excursion in the Kivach Nature Reserve. You will get acquainted with the second highest plain waterfall in Europe and typical and rare Karelian plants. The ecosystem of the Kivach Nature Reserve is unique. Apart from the picturesque landscapes you will enjoy its crystal clear air. Transfer to the tourist complex. Accommodation. Dinner.

After breakfast we continue our route to the famous Kizhi Island. The island is situated in Zaonezhye area, which can be literary translated as the land behind the Onego Lake. This area is well-known for its rich cultural heritage and beautiful nature. Today will cover the distance of 250 km and visit several deserted and still living Karelian villages with cozy wooden churches, built without nails in the 17-18th centuries.

Afterwards we will stop near the healing freshwater spring called Three Ivans. In the past people from all over Russia visited this spring to cure skin and stomach illnesses. Today this is one of the hidden Karelian gems, which is accessible only by off-road vehicles.

In the evening we reach the shore of Onego Lake and get accommodated in the guesthouse not far from Kizhi Island. Dinner and Russian sauna will help you relax after such a long day.

After breakfast transfer to Kizhi Island by boat.

10.00 Excursion in the Kizhi Museum.

12:00 Transfer back to our jeeps. Today's distance is 320 km. On our way back to Petrozavodsk we will pass several Karelian villages and make a stop near another healing spring called the Tsar's Spring. According to the legend the spring got its name after the mother of the first Tsar of the Romanov dynasty got a curative effect of her illness using the water from this spring.

Our next stop will be devoted to the history of the military conflict between the Soviet Union and Finland in 1939–1940. You will see the old Finnish fortifications erected in the rocks.

Upon arrival back in Petrozavodsk dinner at a local cafè. Transfer to the railway station.

22:00 Departure by train for Moscow.
