The traditional boat regatta will take place on the 1st and 2nd of August on Kizhi Island.
The Kizhi Museum preserves not only the unique wooden architecture, but also strong shipbuilding traditions of the area. Local fishermen have always been proud of their boats, which perfectly match the changeable weather of the Onego Lake. The traditions of boat construction were passed from generation to generation.
Today on the first weekend of August Kizhi Island invites teams to participate in a tradional boat race around the island. The boats start up near the famous Kizhi Architectural Ensemble, so the guests of the island can observe the beauty of the boats, as well as the heat of the competition.
